How to Market when you have Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

RSD is no joke, I definitely feel the sting when someone doesn’t want to build a relationship or appreciate my offers. It can be hard to get back in the saddle.

But you want to have a solo private practice, right? We’ve got to create a work around to help you reach your goal. The key is to focus on process versus outcome. We are not going to pay attention (as hard as it is) to the outcome of our marketing or what I call relationship building, instead we are going to focus on the process. That means focusing on specific actions of relationship building not whether or not a relationship is developed. Develop a list of tasks that help facilitate relationships and focus on completing the tasks. If you also have ADHD, be sure to time block them on the calendar.

Some possible tasks for relationship building:

Reach out to one new contact per week

Provide positive feedback in a facebook group daily

Find one person at each CE event and obtain their contact info

Reach out to an old colleague and ask for coffee to catch up

Reach out to one provider per week of current patients

Attend 1 free marketing event per quarter

It’s still going to sting (or knock you on your ass) when you start, but process is key. Keep going by focusing on the tasks and develop a RSD recovery ritual.
