Digital Business Cards: 5 Reasons why you should make the Switch.

I attended the most fun networking event in May at Fusion Academy in Alpharetta. Rachel Dorneanu of Sage Counseling worked with Baylee Wimpey of Fusion Academy to host a Yoga Class (run by a therapist who is also a yoga instructor, Carolina) for therapists event to destress, connect, and learn about Fusion (if you work with teens, you should see this place for sure). Did I mention it was on the lawn at the Avalon…beautiful. Not only was it a fun event, but the first one I have been to where I’m not the only one with a digital business card. Yay!

Here are the main reasons why I use a digital business card.

  1. I can’t keep up with changing information and then having to order and change my cards. My office has moved 3 times in the last 5 years- I hate moving but in particular all the little things that come with it. Having a digital business card is one less task by not having to reorder new cards and hand them out. Some digital business card even update for everyone who has your card. So saving time.

  2. Not to mention the amount of paper that gets used with business cards. So saving trees, and time.

  3. I personally don’t keep paper business cards either because I can’t keep up with paper files/documents. Don’t worry if you’ve given me a paper business card, I save the contact info in my phone, I just don’t keep the paper. So saving space, trees, and time.

  4. Digital business cards can often cost less than paper business cards. For example, I currently use dot.cards which was a one time purchase of a credit card like business card at ~$50, that was three years ago. They have a free, non subscription database so no monthly cost. With two moves in the last 3 years that save me $100 dollars minimum of the purchase of new paper business cards for each move since I already had the digital business card. So saving money, space, trees, and time.

  5. Lastly, digital business cards save you energy. How many times have I rolled up to a networking event without business cards and the emotional energy drain by my annoyance at my…too many. I can remember the most inane detail of someone’s life but I can’t remember to carry a purse or to refill my gas tank before the dreaded “0 miles until Empty” sign. Having a digital card in my phone wallet and stored digitally means I don’t have to waste the energy of trying to remember or beating myself up if I forget. So saving energy, money, space, trees, and time.

If you are interested in a digital business card, be sure to check out the Library article about which business cards I’ve been seeing and loving from other therapists. Also, if you love good old paper ones-don’t change your style-do what works best for you.

Rachel and Fusion will be hosting the Yoga Networking for therapists monthly, so please be sure to register (did I mention it was FREE!). Rachel and I won’t be attending the one in July since we will be facilitating the New Clinician Expo on July 14th 2023 but I’m sure we will be at the one in August 2023.
