2025 Intimate Partner Violence Technology Considerations
October 17th, 2024 | 12:00 PM- 1:00 PM, EST | Virtual
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Danielle Edwards, MSW, LCSW and Jennifer Hama, MS, LPC, CPCS have developed a LPCAGA approved for 1 Core Hour <to be applied for again>. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a pervasive and complex issue that affects millions of individuals worldwide. As technology has become an integral part of daily life, it has also introduced new avenues through which IPV can occur. Abusers can exploit technology to exert control, manipulate, and intimidate their partners, leading to what is often referred to as "digital abuse." On the other hand, technology can also be an empowering tool for survivors, offering innovative ways to seek help, track incidents, and access resources. Together we will explore both the harmful and helpful dimensions of technology in the context of IPV.
1 Core Hour has been applied for via LPCAGA.
Objectives:
Understand the various forms of technology-facilitated abuse in intimate partner violence.
Learn how to educate survivors about digital safety and privacy.
Discover how technology can aid in intervention and prevention efforts.
T2T values education being available for free. If you would like to attend without CE credit please use the code: NOCECREDIT . Because there is a cost to me to obtain approval for CEs I do charge a small amount to recoup that cost. Please be aware that in the state of Georgia you can have up to 5 self study hours and this course could count towards that without paying for the CORE ce hour credit.
